Certificate of Analysis and Data Sheet
Source:
Bacillus sphaericus
Catalog No.
ENZ-269
Description :
Lysostaphin, an endopeptidase specific for the cell wall peptidoglycan of staphylococci, is an extremely potent anti-staphylococcal agent. Lysostaphin is used as a research and diagnostic tool. Because it lyses staphylococci efficiently, it is widely used when preparing staphylococcal DNA or other cellular components for genetic and biochemical studies and for the preparation of protoplasts for transformation. Preparation and analysis of bacterial DNA has become a powerful tool used by clinical and other microbiologists in epidemiological studies aimed at tracing sources of infection or bacterial contamination.
Physical Appearance:
Sterile Filtered clear solution.
Formulation:
Lysostaphin, at a concentration of 10mg/ml contains 20mM sodium acetate, pH 4.5.
Stability:
Lysostaphin although stable at 4蚓 for 6 months, should be stored desiccated below -18蚓.
Please avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
Biological Activity:
Determined by the decrease in turbidity of a suspension of heat-killed Staphylococcus aureus at pH8.0, 30蚓. Specific activity is measured with a defined activity of 4,000 U/mg.
Endotoxin:
Less than 0.1 ng/ug (IEU/ug) of Lysostaphin.
Protein content:
Protein quantitation was carried out by two independent methods:
1. UV spectroscopy at 280 nm using the absorbency value of 2.02 as the extinction
coefficient for a 0.1% (1mg/ml) solution. This value is calculated by the PC GENE
computer analysis program of protein sequences (IntelliGenetics).
2. Analysis RP-HPLC, using a calibrated solution of rLysostaphin as a Reference Standard.
Usage:
This material is offered by ProSpec-TechnoGene for research,
laboratory or further evaluation purposes.
