Description :

Adrenocorticotropic hormone, as its name implies, stimulates the adrenal cortex. More specifically, it stimulates secretion of glucocorticoids such as cortisol, and has little control over secretion of aldosterone, the other major steroid hormone from the adrenal cortex. stimulates secretion of adrenal corticosteroids and induces growth of adrenal cortex. ACTH also called Tetracosactide directly activates G-proteins. A stimulator of adenylate cyclase and cAMP formation. Its molecular weight is 4541.3 having an amino acid sequence of H-Ser-Tyr-Ser-Met-Glu-His-Phe-Arg-Trp-Gly-Lys-Pro-Val-Gly-Lys-Lys-Arg-Arg-Pro-Val-Lys-Val-Tyr-Pro-OH.

Physical Appearance:

Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.

Formulation:

The protein (1mg/ml) was lyophilized with no additives.

Solubility:

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized ACTH in sterile 18MΩ-cm H₂O not less than 100ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.

Stability:

Lyophilized ACTH although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18⁰C. Upon reconstitution ACTH should be stored at 4⁰C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18⁰C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
Please avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Purity:

Greater than 98.0% as determined by:
(a) Analysis by RP-HPLC.
(b) Analysis by reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE Silver Stained gel.

Dimers and aggregates:

Less than 1% as determined by silver-stained SDS-PAGE gel analysis.

Endotoxin:

Less than 0.1 ng/ug (IEU/ug) of ACTH.
